Welcome

My name is Liam Kartak and I’ll be getting you ready for Auror and Magical Law Enforcement over the course of this semester.  Trust me when I say I have experienced enough in my 31 years to be able to teach you a great deal.  This will be a challenging semester but an exciting one for those of you who are serious about pursuing careers in these areas.  All lessons will be posted on this website, but if you have any questions please Owl me or visit me in my office.

Term Lessons

Below you will find a general framework for the lessons over the course of the semester.  Of course things are subject to change if I feel that it will benefit the majority of the class, though plan on things working to this general list.  In the right hand column of this page you will “Lessons,” which will be where each lesson for the term will be posted.  Lesson 1 is currently up.

Auror/Magical Law Enforcement Training

Lesson 1 – Lecture Portion

-Auror/Magical Law Enforcement History

-Spell Review

-Responsibilities of professions

–Assignments: Writing prompts over the material each week.

Lesson 2 – Dueling/Combat Portion

-Hands on approach to defense/offense

-Blocking spells

-Casting spells

-Hand to hand combat

–Assignments: In class dueling/combat that will require out of class preparation

Lesson 3 – Field Trip/Detective and Stealth Portion

-Trip to Ministry

-Lecture/Interactive practice on detective work and stealth moves

–Assignments: Interview an Auror/Magical Law Enforcement member and spend the day with them.  In class participation over detective/stealth scenarios.

Lesson 4 – Final Project

-Roleplay scenario

–Assignments: Students will be assigned a role in a “mock” mission that will encompass all of the information they’ve learned over the course of the term.

–Completion of the final project and participation over the course of the term will result in a Quill.
